I got your point, John. Aliveness is not about dying— it is about protecting us from regrets, which may come to us too late. Your newsletter is aimed to us who want to live following our own inner rhythm, and do net let circumstances and wishes of others to push us here and there through our life and at the end leave us longing, because we missed to be what we really are.
My answer to: Where are you wearing a mask, and what would it take to drop it?
I would not use such wording like “wearing a mask” or “drop the mask”. Because it suggests something sneaky and treacherous. Today’s society analyses body language and facial expression of amiable and trustworthy individuals and then trains people how to imitate and wear the mask of amiable and trustworthy individuals. I would rather say:
Where are you being afraid to show what are you involved in, and what would it take to disclose it?
I did not remember such moments, or it would be too long to write. I have a theory— Dr. Gabor Mate writes nicely about it— that if you are about to build and do something important in your life, you would not—or should not disclose it until you are prepared and started implementing it. Because, when you really want to do something, you do not need validity from others. Otherwise, by disclosing what you are working on, your resoluteness and energy would wear out in talking; your energy would be drained by spiteful comments, and you would never do it. You do not need showing up and talking before you are ready to act. And when you would accomplish what you have been building, others would see without talking to them.
This hit me where I needed it to - thank you John!
I’m so glad - thanks for the message Celeste
